Thursday 2nd February 1989 6pm is a piece inspired by the American hyperreal artist Ralph Goings and captures a scene at Scarborough Beach, which the artist referenced from a photograph he took from the balcony of the hotel opposite.

On closer inspection, the work reveals a sense of tension: the positioning and gaze of the figures in the foreground, the open car boot behind them, and the intense late‑afternoon light combine to suggest a narrative that might be more unsettling than initially appears.

The piece was donated by the artist to the City of Stirling visual art collection in 2018.
