Artist Statement: We love our local wildlife and the magpie is a wonderful part of our little neighbourhoods. They have a great sense of family and togetherness. Tight knitted they stick like glue to their own and are highly protective of their territory. If a neighbouring bird strays onto their turf they quickly band together to oust the intruder. We too are not immune. Our local parks paths and tracks that we traverse all year can suddenly become a battleground between human and protective bird. SWOOP! - Richard Aitken
