Wadjak Northside has come together in the last few years from two local groups who have been working with support from a large cross section of the Aboriginal Community in the areas of the City of Stirling and the City of Wanneroo.
A group of parents, grandparents and carers of Aboriginal students at Balga Senior High School came together in a small project called Northside Noongars Growing and Learning, funded by the Smith Family. They joined together with some members of the Social Inclusion Group, which is a collaboration of agencies working with local populations in the areas of Mirrabooka, Koondoola, Girrawheen and Balga.
The two groups came together as Wadjak Northside to work on the Community's long held wish for an Aboriginal Resource Centre. Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Community Group became an incorporated organisation in December 2012.
It commenced projects in 2013 to create an Aboriginal Community Resource Centre and a business enterprise, to create sustainability for the Centre as well as training and employment for its local community members.
