An original Crown Grant of 1,000 acres with frontage to the Swan River.
It was given and granted to John Whatley, Doctor of Medicine, by the Governor of the Colony, Sir James Stirling, on the 15th March 1837 in the reign of William the Fourth.
John Whatley, born 1789, arrived in the Colony of Western Australia on the 19th October 1829, aboard the Atwick from Berkshire, England. Following his death a grant for the same location was given to Whatley's daughters, Joanne Kemble Whatley, Mary Elizabeth Whatley and Katherine Anne Hopkins, by the Governor of the Colony, John Hutt Esquire, on the 13th December 1842 in the reign of Queen Victoria.
