Elder Oriel Green was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the indigenous community in Western Australia. She received the NAIDOC Week Aboriginal Elder of the Year Award in 1993 and NAIDOC Perth Female Elder of the Year Award in 2012.
She was born in Three Springs in 1935 and moved to Perth in the early 1970s. Oriel worked in early childhood education and with the Education Department and sent six years on the National Aboriginal Early Childhood Committee. She was a member of the Aboriginal Education and Training Council for Central TAFE.
Oriel has been a member of the City of Stirling's Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.
Oriel is a mother of six, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of one and a great-great-grandmother of two.
