Mirrabooka Town Square

In 2025, the Mirrabooka Town Square upgrade was delivered as part of an ongoing effort to revitalise the Mirrabooka Town Centre, which previously had unfulfilled potential as a community space and meeting place.

The City of Stirling allocated $1 million to the Mirrabooka Town Square upgrade in the 2024/25 annual budget and collaborated closely with local residents on plans to upgrade the area and deliver the community's vision of a safer, greener and cooler space.

The Mirrabooka Town Square upgrade was carried out by Nyoongar Aboriginal-owned Kardan Construction. During the construction phase, Kardan employees engaged with local Aboriginal people experiencing unemployment and homelessness, involving them in the project and taking their advice on board.

The upgrades to the town square include new seating, a playground, native trees and plants, upgraded lighting, an alfresco wooden deck connected to the new Dome Café, as well as striking public art installations, including wood carvings by Dan Iley, large printed shade sails by Nyoongar artist Emily Rose, and 30 hand-painted bollards along Sudbury Road by Marisa Santosa and Iwan Isnin in collaboration with students from Boyare Primary School.

On Saturday 15 November 2025, the City hosted a free community celebration, Mirrabooka Koort (Heart of Mirrabooka), to mark the official opening of the upgraded Mirrabooka Town Square.

Mirrabooka Town Square is located on Sudbury Road, between the Mirrabooka Bus Station and The Square Mirrabooka shopping centre.
