Robert was a presser (dry cleaner) from Osborne Park. He had joined the 32nd Battalion when he embarked from Adelaide on board the HMAT Geelong on 18 November 1915. He transferred to the 14th Field Artillery Brigade as a Gunner on 15 March 1916. His unit relocated to the Western Front, France during June 1916. He was killed in action near Ypres, Belgium on 5 August 1917. He was aged 23 years.
