Pte Jack Lanigan enlisted in January 1915 and joined the 16th Battalion. He landed at Gallipoli in the early evening of 25 April 1915, ten weeks before his eighteenth birthday. He was wounded and although recovered, he was later discharged due to illness and returned to Australia in August 1916. He reenlisted in January 1917, but ill health led to another medical discharge.
Jack went on to work for the Perth Road Board, (now known as the City of Stirling) for 34 years.
