The Karrinyup library opened with 40,000 books (comprised of 25,000 Stirling stock and 15,000 Library Board stock). This stock count was unheard of as the Library Board provided only up to 20,000 books to a new library.
Karrinyup library was the first library in Australia to install a computer system for circulation control only. The Automated Library Systems (ALS).
