Party Monsters by Darren Hutchens

It’s a Monster party!! Full of colourful, friendly and playful (maybe a little scary) characters, hanging out together, having fun whilst also engaging with nature.

The artist's aim was to create an immersive experience for young children and families entering the space. A fun and friendly party vibe that brings elements of the outside, in. Discoverable elements tucked away from the inquisitive minded to find.

The work incorporates the multiple doors, windows, columns and corners of the room, creating a scene reminiscent of a fairy tale castle with monsters inhabitants. Plants and vines grow here and there, while insects and animals hide in the corners. 

A range of monster characters are depicted in thoughtful repose, engaging with the scene or playfully interacting with each other. There's a one horned Cyclops, a purple Sasquatch with a flower in his hair, bats, spiders, a crazy octopus and..what is that  snake boy!?!
