The Lake Karrinyup Country Club was proposed by Arnold Hodder, Dr Ralph Crisp and Keith Barker, with a prospectus issued on 19 August 1927. A successful campaign for members allowed for the purchase of a 353 acre property called Careeniup. Alex Russell designed the golf course created on the property.
During World War Two the Club was used by the Women’s Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAAF) as a training facility.
The Club has hosted many high-profile golf tournaments, including the Australian Open.
The clubhouses and greens have been refurbished in the intervening years.
