DESCRIPTION

ContributorVisual Art and Public ArtFull titleEvette_Stories of Scarborough_AIR 2026DescriptionEvette grew up in one of the first houses built in Westview Street, Scarborough, when the road was nothing but a sand track.

Recorded as part of the Artists in residence program 2026.

Claire Davenhall and Amanda Kendle’s residency explored connections between life on and off the coast of Scarborough through storytelling, sound, visual art and environmental inquiry. They invited members of the local community to respond to archival images of Scarborough’s urban and marine environment using collage and watercolour, leading to audio recordings of their reflections. Participants created artwork reflecting Scarborough’s past, present and future and told stories of their connections, history and love for the area, combining to present a multifaceted expression of this special suburb.TypeCommunity arts projectCreator individualClaire DavenhallAmanda KendleDate created2026Duration11:45
