At a meeting held on 17 July 1995 at the Osborne Autumn Centre, the Osborne Community Development Advisory Committee proposed that the park being developed in Short Street, Joondanna be named after Albert Ferguson James. The City of Stirling accepted the proposal and the park was developed around 1995, to commemorate Albert James' contribution to the Tuart Hill, Joondanna and Osborne Park communities.
