The community centre was formerly named after Kevin Smith, who was a councillor for the City of Stirling's Balga ward from 1979 to 1988 and 1989 - 1994.
Description
Stirling Leisure - Mirrabooka Community Centre (formerly the Kevin Smith Community Centre) is part of the Mirrabooka Community Hub. The hub also incorporates:
Wandjoo Gardens - a relaxed community space directly outside the library; Wandjoo is Nyoongar word for welcome.
Stirling Libraries - Mirrabooka and the Innovations Lab - an ideal facility to learn and improve your computer skills and access new technologies; the lab is also available for hire.
Aboriginal Engagement - the City's Aboriginal Engagement Officer is onsite to connect the community to local services and opportunities, and to become involved in our reconciliation activities.
Youth and Children’s services - provides residents with information regarding community-based activities for children, as well as connect the community to local services and opportunities.
Multicultural Engagement - newcomers can speak to staff about multicultural services, programs and engagement.
Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Centre - provides a range of holistic services to women of all ages from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Mental Health Access Services - specialised mental health services for migrants and refugees.
