TAG (Thomas Arthur (Tom)) Hungerford was born in 1915. He was a commando, attacking the Japanese in Papua New Guinea during World War II. He was a well-known author, winning the Patrick White Award in 2002. His best-known work, Stories from Suburban Road, is available in the City of Stirling’s library collection. He had a beach house located in Scarborough and there is a plaque on the pavement to commemorate its location. He passed away in 2011, aged 96.
