June Copley

Councillor Copley immigrated to Australia with her family in 1965, initially living in Cottesloe, then Scarborough, and finally settling in Balga in 1970. She became an active community member, organizing events and fundraisers, and advocating for local sports facilities. In 1989, she was elected as a City of Stirling Councillor for the Balga Ward and has served continuously since then until 2007, including two terms as Deputy Mayor.

Councillor Copley has chaired the Infrastructure and Community Development Committee and participated in various advisory committees. She has also represented the city in regional advisory roles and has been deeply involved in local clubs and organizations, demonstrating her strong commitment to the community.

Councillor Copley, a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award 1998 Local Government Association Honours, and Distinguished Service Award 2003 Western Australian Local Government Association Honours. Councillor Copley was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for her service to the local government, sporting organisation, and to the community of Balga.
