Mr. Beurteaux was born in 1810 in Paris, France. In 1848, he married Jane Grass in Geelong, Victoria, and they had three children. After their marriage ended, he remarried Helena Huetson in 1862, and they had eight children together.
Mr. Beurteaux practiced dentistry for 33 years in Melbourne, Victoria, before moving to Perth, Western Australia, in 1872. At that time, there were no dental schools or hospitals in Western Australia, so he traveled to various towns, including Bunbury, Northam, Greenough, and York, to work as a dentist.
Mr. Beurteaux was elected to the Perth Road Board, serving from 1880 to 1882.
