James George Clarko

James Clarko was a Councillor at the Shire of Perth and the City of Stirling from 1969 to 1975. 

He went on to a career in state politics as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1993 to 1996 and also as Minister for Education.

He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2006 "for service to the Western Australian Parliament serving in various parliamentary positions, including Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and to the community of the City of Stirling."
