Trigg-based artist, Victoria Malone, has been working with clay for 40 years. Initially trained as a painter, Victoria fell in love with ceramics and began making forms with this beautiful material in the 1980s.
Her mentor in the early days was Greg Crowe (Hovea Pottery), who encouraged her to focus on form. This focus has influenced Victoria’s work throughout her career and has become one of her strengths.
After study, Victoria worked as a production potter from her home studio, with the aim of making and selling functional pieces that would allow her to fully equip her ceramic studio.
Since then, Victoria has gone on to develop and refine her skills, share her knowledge through teaching, and win numerous awards for her art. She was recently awarded a “Technical Award” by Perth Studio Potters and the “Functional Award” at the Ceramic Arts Association of Western Australia’s annual exhibition in 2023, for her unique crystalline glazed pieces.
Victoria is now recognised as one of Western Australia’s most talented ceramicists and she continues to create her work from her studio in Trigg.
