Jean Neal

Jean Neal is a long term resident of Inglewood and has many stories of life around this suburb in the mid twentieth century. Jeans house in Inglewood at 64 John Street had a different number and suburb name in 1928 - it was 26 John St, North Maylands. Jean and her sister rode their three wheel scooters down the Kennedy hill in Inglewood as kids, and celebrated Guy Fawkes day with dressing up, bonfires and fireworks.

Jean's Mum and Dad were of Scottish and Irish heritage, were War time sweethearts, and loved to dance at the local dance halls. Her Dad returned from WWI greatly changed and found peace in the garden planting a wisteria that grew along the wooden fence, along with the vegetable garden it was his pride and joy.  They fertilised the garden from the horse manure from the delivery carts working around the area.  Jean was associated with the Methodist Church in Inglewood and working hard to get a new Church built.

Alison Solomon and Jean Neal are sisters and participated in the Stirling Stories project in 2022.
