The Marcon family were market gardeners on Main Street, Osborne Park, which is now known as Balcatta. The collection includes primarily tools used on the market garden, as well as an oral history with a family member which was recorded in 2012. Tony Marcon was involved with the Market Gardeners Association over many years and held positions including President and Vice President. Tony was one of the designers of 30 litre plastic crates that saved growers' money. He was born in Italy and came to Australia in 1937, aged 11. He died at the age of 57 in 1983.
