The title of Honorary Freeman of the City is bestowed on a former Elected Member or Citizen in recognition of exceptional and meritorious services to the City, where their activities have substantially improved the quality of life for residents and community.
It has been a long-standing tradition at the City, to recognise the Freeman and their part in the City’s history, by commissioning a portrait of any newly conferred Freeman of the City.
The Visual Art Collection currently holds ten Freeman portraits by Western Australian artists, produced between 1978 and 2024.
The portraits are displayed together in the City of Stirling Civic Centre.
