Camels were a major source of transport in Western Australia before the arrival of the motor lorrie. The Pratt family ran a camel team, and the descendants have strong ties to the City of Stirling. Maud Thomas wrote the biography about her family called 'As it used to be' which featured the stories of the Pratt family.
