My brother Arthur rode a Harley Davidson motor bike and gave me a ride to the beach sometimes. To discourage me from asking he used to travel very fast and frightened me, so he achieved his purpose. The only other private transport for our family was the push bike. I can still picture Dad putting the bike clips around the lower legs of his trousers.
