My wife Mary and I rented a place at 31A Guildfield Road, Mount Lawley in 1959. One day a young real estate chap knocked in our door, he was wearing a pork pie hat and drove a Vauxhall Velox, his name was Kerry Stokes, and worked for H.G. Seymour at the time. He sold us lot 7 in Grand Promenade, Dianella, upon which my wife Mary and I sub-contracted a house (now 437 Grand Promenade, Dianella).
Kerry and I become friends through various real estate transactions, and in November 1964 he asked me to work for him at his then agency K.M Stokes & Co. We had a check with Mary first, as she was in St Anne's Maternity Hospital having our daughter Nicole. She said okay - Kerry and I went and bought a take-away chicken for tea to celebrate.
We still live in the area and I have taken Nicole, now 55 years old and Granddaughter Remi to look at the old house, now under re-development, light fittings, door handles and tiles that we close, Nicole remembers them all.
