Nesting Fields by Lorenna Grant

Commissioned as part of the redevelopment of the old Churchlands campus, the sculpture combines form and function to create an artful canopy that creates possibilities for nesting by our iconic species. The intention was to produce sculpture that will generate more energy than it uses. The Carnaby Cockatoo, Boobook and Barn Owls, Corella’s, Galahs and Indigenous Bats (who will eat 1000 mosquitoes a day) are the intended residents, with the sculptural towers housing hollows designed to meet their needs.
