The Pattern by Aasiya Evans

The Pattern print is an illustration that echoes the Oriental binate through Islamic features of geometric patterning repetition and layering. Aasiya Evans' art is a reflection of Eastern and Western concerns placed within a post 9/11 global context. Her praxis conceptually navigates the nature of our geopolitical climate of inherent Eastern and Western boundaries in order to understand historical colonial traditions of the past representing themselves today. Her practice-led research through creative interpretation embodies many of the socio-political challenges she has faced as a migrant female Muslim. The Pattern - Reflecting a mosaic Arabesque tile like pattern in Autumnal tones that has bullets/ holes in the patterning anchoring it as part of the design.
