ContributorCommunity HistoryDescriptionBond cottage was a timber dwelling built by George Bond during the early 1920s. George and Martha Bond, and their nine children arrived at Fremantle on Boxing Day 1910. After a couple of years living in Leederville they purchased five acres of land in Osborne Park at the corner of Curtis (now North Beach Drive, Tuart Hill) and Main Street.
George built a large shed on the land to accommodate the family until the cottage was built. The bush was cleared and a timber four room cottage, with kitchen, dining and two bedrooms was built.
The video includes footage of Agnes Bond, the last member of the family to reside in the cottage. After her death the building and some of its contents were donated to the City of Stirling. It is currently used as The Men's Shed Shop and is situated at 8 Vasto Place, Balcatta.
