Herb Elliott

Herb Elliott is a middle distance runner who was a world record holder. He ran 17 races under the benchmark 'four minute mile.' Elliott broke the world record, that he had set, winning the 1500 metres gold medal race at the Rome Olympics in 1960, by a margin of 20 metres. 

Herb Elliott’s family home is in Scarborough where he grew up in a relaxed and sporting environment, within sprinting distance of the sand and surf.

The City of Stirling has named Herb Elliott oval in Karrinyup and Elliott Road in honour of his achievements.
