Heading north to camp on the beach was a big adventure. Ruby Tucker had homemade bathers. There was boiling water in a kerosene tin on a fire on the beach and cooking freshly caught fish in the coals.
Ruby Tucker and Ron Ward married in Wesley Church Perth in 1948. They lived in Gildercliffe St Scarborough in the 60's. Their kids went to Doubleview Primary, Scarborough High and Churchlands Highschool. Swimming was at Scarborough beach. Later they moved to Sorrento in the 70's and the kids went to Sorrento primary, Balcatta High and Carine High. School holidays swimming lessons were at the MAAC.
