Heritage site marker Scarborough primary school

Established in 1934, Scarborough Primary School was the first school built in Scarborough. Previously, a Japanese school operated from rooms 
on the school grounds, as Perth’s Japanese community traditionally provide education for their children modelled on the Japanese system. 
Scarborough Primary School opened with 25 children across six classes and quickly proved so popular that additional classes were required 
before the end of the year, and again in 1938. The school features buildings of varying styles that span from the early years of permanent 
settlement in the area to more recent times.
