Heritage site marker St Teresa's Church Gwelup

St Teresa's Church was opened and blessed by the Archbishop of Perth, the Most Reverend Redmond Prendiville in January 1937 and used as a school conducted by the Sisters of Mercy from West Perth. The small, modest yet pleasing church building is characterised by original detailing and a distinctive gable that incorporates an unusual side verandah, as well as an entry porch and sanctuary that projects from the main building. It was incorporated into the Mt Laverna Retirement Village when it was constructed in the early 1990s. 

The place is associated with the ongoing development of the Roman Catholic Church in the district, as it was the main church building servicing parishioners from Gwelup, North Beach and Marmion for many years.
