ContributorCommunity HistoryDescriptionKarrinyup Library 1974 – Automated Library System. The A.L.S used a magnetic card with dots that equalled numbers and generated automated reports. The Karrinyup Library has been groundbreaking in implementing technology and programs and has demonstrated ‘many firsts’ including being the first library to employ a Young Adult Librarian, two Library Technicians and other specialised Librarians – such as Children’s and Reference Librarians.

Cecil Florey left Karrinyup Library in 1978, taking up a position at the State Library and Kay Poustie became the Manager, bringing her own dynamic style.
