Dr David Barkhouse

Dr David Barkhouse of Willow Bank Entrance, lived in Gwelup for 22 years and he spent many an hour, every day, walking around the park with the dogs and was very well known.  He loved the park and would sit on a seat and listen to the bird chorus, the ‘Orchestra’, which is notorious for its well known music.  He did this daily up until 4 days before he died- latterly on a Mobility Scooter.

Most of his working life was spent in the remote North west of Western Australia, delivering babies, surgery and anaesthetics, with his wife of 64 years, Jenny, by his side, and was a very well thought of community member. Dr David Barkhouse died at home on the 6th Feb 2026.
