Mount Lawley Senior High School was founded in 1955 and moved to the site on Woodsome Street the following year. It started with 400 students. The site in Woodsome Street was part of the former Scadden Pine Plantation and was also formerly a rehabilitated rubbish dump. The school became a Senior High School in 1960 when it started its first year 11 classes.
