Located at 62 Alexander Drive, this centre was named after Terry Tyzack who was a City of Stirling Councillor. Mr Tyzack serviced as a councillor from 1974 until 2017. During that time from 1974 until 1982 he serviced as the Lawley Ward Councillor and from 1983 until 2017 he serviced as the Inglewood Ward Councillor. During that time he was deputy Mayor from 1995 until 1996 and Mayor from 1984 until 1986. Councillor Terry Tyzack served for over 30 years as a local government representative on the City of Stirling Council. He served as Mayor, Deputy Mayor and has been Chairperson of all Stirling Standing Committees as well as many Advisory Committees.
This centre is also known as Stirling Leisure Centres- Inglewood.
Terry Tyzack was a member of the Policy, Corporate Planning, Budget and Finance Committee and the Town Planning Committee. Councillor Tyzack was an extremely active member of several high profile advisory committees, including the Stirling Civic Precinct Sub-Committee, the Inglewood Aquatic Centre Redevelopment Sub Committee and the Scarborough Precinct Selection Committee. Beyond the City of Stirling he served on the Mindarie Regional Council, was a former Commissioner of the Western Australian Planning Commission, and the WAMA Metropolitan Member of the Planning Commission. He was also the Chair of the Governing Council of the West Coast College of TAFE. An architect by profession, and Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects he was been an Examiner for the Architect Registration Board of WA. Councillor Tyzack had a more than 30 years history of active involvement with community groups, many of them within the Inglewood and Dianella area. His recreational interests are golf, tennis and art. Councillor Tyzack was nominated for Life Membership to the Local Government Association for his long and outstanding service to Local Government and his significant achievements and active involvement in intergovernmental relations.
