Andres Slaven Luketina

Dr Andres (Andy) Slaven Luketina was born in Yugoslavia in 1932. He lived in Doubleview and worked as a medical practitioner. He was married and had three children.

Dr Luketina was a councillor for the Scarborough Ward from 1972 to 1975 and then again from 1977 to 1980. He was also Mayor of the City of Stirling from 1977 to 1979. As a doctor he was known for his personable and egalitarian nature and those qualities were also noted in his approach to his roles at the City. The constructive and cooperative environment fostered at the Council during his leadership was appreciated by his peers.

Dr Luketina passed away at the age of 47 in 1980. Remembered for his willingness to help both individuals and communities, his mayoral successor described him as "a self-educated, compassionate man, whose leadership in difficult times did much to re-establish Stirling as a leading local government authority."
