This photo approx. 1950 looking south-east from the Schultz property alongside the current fresh flower growers business in North Beach Road. It shows part of the Careniup Swamp that formed a large part of the area at that time. The original Arbuckle home with the large packing shed alongside it is on the middle right hand side and to the left of this property lays the Lake Gwelup Primary School. The swamp was surrounded by market gardeners who drew water from the swamp to irrigate their crops before the advent of bores and irrigation that commenced after the end of the Second World War. This area is now all covered in residential homes bounded by North Beach Road (formally called Waley Road) and opposite the Lake Karrinyup Country Club golf course.
