Alma Venville was the first female mayor of the City of Stirling. She was elected to the position of Councillor for the Maylands ward on 26th May 1973. She became Mayor in 1975 and remained in the position until 1977. She retired from the role as councillor of Maylands ward on Saturday 4th May 1991 after eighteen years of public service.
