The Maylands Aerodrome opened in 1923. After forty years of service the aerodrome officially ceased operations on the 30th of June 1963. Due to it being so close to the Perth Airport, it became a hazard to flying operations. The first air mail to England leaves Maylands Aerodrome on the 9 December 1934.
