Heritage site marker for the Castle Hotel

‘The Castle’ was built atop this hill in the 1860s as a holiday house for the Hamersley family.  The building became North Beach’s first hotel in the 1880s and was frequented by drovers and camel drivers stopping at the quarantine station at Star Swamp on their way to the Goldfields.  Artist: Steve Tepper
