These trolleys started their lives as trolleys in brickworks and claypits in the late 1890s up until most of the claypits were closed in the 1930s. When discarded by the brickworks, market gardeners used them on their properties. Market gardeners ran tracks from the end of the garden to the packing sheds to run the trolleys the length of the property. In some cases these tracks were up to 400 metres long.
This trolley was owned by the late Luciano Montey, who used it in his market garden on Gribble Road. It was restored by Balcatta resident, Kevin Bisby of the Balcatta Rotary Club.
