Water as Habitat by Jo Darbyshire

Water as Habitat aims to remind the many users of the centre about the local wetlands and all the creatures living within them. Artist Statement: ‘I wanted to make a link between the man-made aquatic environment and the particular living heritage of our wetlands.’ Each of the wall panels were made by fusing layers of coloured glass together and sandblasting back into them. The series includes images of plankton, long necked tortoise, sacred kingfisher, gilgies, aquatic insects, frogs, tadpoles, freshwater fish, tiger snake, black swan and southern brown bandicoot.
