Maurice Edgar Hamer OBE JP Freeman of the City of Stirling Conferred 25/08/1972 by Brendon Darby

Mr Hamer was born in 1901 and became a member of the Perth Road Board (predecessor of the City of Stirling) in 1937. During his 23 years on the board Mr Hamer spent 3 years as Chairman (1953 -1956). He was also Chairman of the Metropolitan Region Planning Authority (1960 -1972) and the Metropolitan Water Supply Sewerage and Drainage Board. Mr Hamer was honoured with the title of 'Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire' (OBE) for his services to the people. He became the first resident of the City of Stirling to be conferred the title of Honorary Freeman on 25 August 1972.
