Plate 2 by Brett Nannup

This series of six prints form Brett Nannup's contemporary response to artwork produced by child artists of the former Carrolup Native Settlement. They combine symbols and motifs in etchings to reflect on the pain and suffering endured by the children and the oppressive narrative of the Aborigines Act 1905. Within the etchings designs are drawn from traditional Aboriginal shields and body paint markings Brett's mother's crochet rugs and the contemporary use of the dot. Brett pays deep respect and homage to the Carrolup artists.
