George Arthur Bond

George was born in England in c1893 and came to Australia with his parents, George and Martha Bond, and his eight siblings in 1910 on the SS Armadale.

George Bond (junior) enlisted in 1915 and became part of the 51st Battalion. He was wounded in action while fighting in France on 3 September 1916. He went to hospital, recovered and was then transferred to the 11th Battalion. He was again wounded in action on 17 July 1917, with a serious head wound. Unconscious for two weeks, he was eventually discharged and returned to Australia on 16 December 1917. He spent several years in hospital but never fully recovered, and died in 1926.
