This site previously featured the Hamersley Community Hall, which was officially opened Sunday 13 November 1966 by the Shire of Perth President Dr M. Starke JP.

The current Community Centre was opened on 6 November 2014. It was named to commemorate Charles Owen Riley, who drowned in 1954 while assisting in the rescue of three girls at Waterman's Bay.
