Located on Odin Road between Orr Place and Amelia Street, the Odin drive-in theatre opened on the 31 December 1964 with 500 car bays. The theatre included a café and playground. Big arc lamps projected a bright and clear picture from the operations box onto a screen, which towered at a height of 63ft (19.2m) and 90ft (27.4m) in width. The car bays increased from 500 to 677 in 1965. In 1979 City theatre/ TVW group purchased the drive-in theatre running it for 9 years. Hoyts took over City theatre in 1988 and decided to close all six of its drive-in theatre around Perth. The Odin Drive-in theatre presented its last screening on July 1988. The site was demolished in the same month making way for the current residential housing of today.
