William Walter Abbett

William Walter Abbett was a member of the Perth Road Board from 1931 until 1952 for the Coastal area (1931 until 1935) and Scarborough (1935 until 1952). During that time, he also served as Chairman of the board.

Mr Abbett was born in The Triangle, Hampton, Middlesex, England. He emigrated to Australia in 1884 arriving in Fremantle upon the Natal. He first married Jane Chapman Taylor in Perth in 1909 and had one son, Earle Chapman Walter Abbett in 1915. In January 1944 his first wife passed away. He remarried Alice Isabel Skinner in the Trinity Church in Perth on the 2 May 1945. Mr and Mrs Abbett lived at 25 Filburn Street in Scarborough at the time of his death. Mr Abbett was a master tailor with a company called Commercial Tailoring Co. located on Hay Street, West Perth. On 10 August 1959 Mr Abbett was appointed to the Commission of the Peace (now Justice of the Peace) for the State of Western Australia.

Mr Abbett passed away in 1965 and was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery, Nedlands WA.
