This photograph was entered into the 2020 History and Heritage Awards with the following text:
My grandmother, Dorothy Watson, lived her teenage and early adult years in Mt Hawthorn. She spent many weekends and holidays at the beach, usually either at Scarborough or North Beach. As a child, she often told me about how they would either take the bus or walk to Scarborough from Mt Hawthorn. These photos from her album are from a North Beach holiday taken between the 3rd and 10th January 1923. An online search shows that the ‘Lintons’ referred to was the Grand View Guest House, James Street, Balcatta (North Beach), managed by proprietress Mrs Linton.
